The Obelisk is a very modern monument that stands in the heart of Buenos Aires. It was built in the year 1936 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the initial founding of the city itself. The Obelisk stretches 220 feet into the sky and surprisingly it only took approximately 4 weeks to build. During the daylight hours it is a fascinating sight in itself but at night it turns into a spectacular sight because it is illuminated.
