The city of Puerto Vallarta is a lively destination with so much to offer its visitors. Playa de los Muertos is a lovely beach that is especially handy to the city centre although the name does tend to put a lot of people off visiting this beach it still manages to be a very busy spot. The name is unfortunate for the beach because it translates to 'beach of the dead'!
If you are a fan of the silver screen then pay a visit to the Casa Kimberley, this is the house that Richard Burton purchased for Elizabeth Taylor during the 1960's. The property has been left as it was since an American family bought the house in 1990. Guided tours are held and occasionally the family have been known to permit guests to stay overnight.
Beautiful orchids, agaves and wild palms can be viewed at the Jardines Botanicos de Vallarta; this attraction has only been opened just recently and is situated approximately 30 minutes to the South of Puerto Vallarta. Along with the gorgeous flowers and plants visitors can see delicate hummingbirds and butterflies and enjoy a delicious meal in the open-air restaurant.
To enjoy a wonderful shopping experience then visit the Mercado de Artesanias where you will discover clothing, jewellery, art and much more. The Mercado is also lined with numerous fascinating sculptures.
For an informal bite to eat try Cafe de Olla, this much loved Mexican restaurant possesses a wonderfully friendly ambience where every single guest is made to feel like one of the family. The food is cooked in an open style kitchen and the menu mainly consists of Mexican dishes.
If you feel like a more formal dining experience then the Cafe des Artistes is the place to go here the atmosphere is one of romance and the French menu is absolutely divine.
